La Palma, a geographical wonder The island La Palma is the most Western island of the archipelago. La Palma has a surface of 706 km², is 50 km. long and 25 km. large, at the largest point, the highest peak reaches until 2.426 m. (Roque de los Muchachos). La Palma is one of the most divers islands of the World. The island has a great variety of landscapes: from the green and rough coasts in the North, by the laurel forests (Los Tilos) at middle height and higher mountains with a rural climate until the black grounds of the Southern volcanoes. The volcanoes, Mountains and lava dikes do remind us the volcanic roots of La Palma. The last eruption of the volcano Tenguía was in 1971. Visit the volcano and you will experience it is still hot at some places! |
