Opening hours and FestivitiesThe
Canary Islands follow the Greenwich Mean Time and therefore are in the
same time zone as the UK. The Canary Islands have a summer and winter
time. Most shops are opened from 09.00 hours until 13.00 hours and from
16.00 hours until 20.00 hours. On Saturdays shops are only open in mornings.
Large supermarkets are open all day from 09.00 – 20.00 hours,
six days a week. Banks are only open in mornings. Anywhere on the island
are automatic cash machines. Official holidays of this autonomous region
are: January 1 and 6, March 24 and 25, May 2 and 30, August 15, October
12, November 1 and December 6 and 8. Besides these holidays every village
have there own festivities. From May through October every weekend a
fiesta is celebrated somewhere on the island…. Being part of such
a fiesta is a good way to learn about the Palmero culture. Ask us for

15 August: assumption of the blessed virggin (asunción
de la virgen)
12 Oktober: national day (fiesta nacional de España)
1 November: all saints (todos los santos)
7 December (instead of 6 dec.): Constitution day (Día de
la Constitución)
8 December: Immaculate concepcion (Inmaculada Concepción)
25 december: Christmas (Natividad del Señor)
Besides
this every isle has their own holidays and even village might have
their own. From May until Oktober every weekend you could find a
fiesta somewhere on the island. Visiting one is the best way to
get known to the Palmero culture. |
